Synopsis

Things go wrong between Yiu-Fai and Po-Wing on their holiday in Argentina and Wing abandons Yiu. Yiu works to save for his trip back to Hong Kong and often sees a promiscuous Wing with other partners. Yet when Wing appears one day, beaten and bruised, he nurses Wing and becomes intimate again despite wishing and working towards breaking free.  Wong Kar Wai chronicles volatile and destructive relationships trapped in a circle of bitter break-ups and hopes of reunion.

Trivia

Tony Leung Chiu Wai agreed to do the film on the basis of a fake script and only learned of the requirement of doing a gay sex scene after arriving in Argentina for filming.
